Do You Review Thriller Books?

What’s the last great thriller book you read? Did you leave a review of it on Amazon, Goodreads, or another popular site?

Reviews are incredibly important to readers. Think of it like this: the last time you were going to buy a washing machine or check out a new restaurant in the city you were visiting, you likely did some research. Reviews played an important part in that process, didn’t they? Reviews help us to know the good, the bad, and the ugly…or at least give us a little background information.

It’s easy to write a quick review. Even a sentence or two helps another reader who is considering investing her time and/or money in a novel.

Why Writing Book Reviews is Hard

Writing reviews is something that lots of us don’t do. I know I’m guilty of it. I have good intentions–particularly if I love a thriller book–of telling others about it. Sometimes I even remember to recommend it to a friend who I think would enjoy it.

But as for leaving honest-to-goodness online reviews? *Blushing* I don’t do such a great job.

Often, we avoid writing reviews because it’s hard summing up an entire novel in just a few sentences. Plus, we might worry we’ll give too much away, or not say enough about important parts.

I’ve written before about why I prefer to make book recommendations rather than write book reviews. However, I want to write more book reviews, if just for book review sites like those mentioned above.

As a reader, I really appreciate other readers’ reviews. While it doesn’t usually sway me to read/not read a book, it helps build interest. Plus, it fosters a connection between us readers, funny since we’re usually complete strangers.

Excellent Book Review Example

One book reviewer, P.K. Adams, shares reviews packed with everything a good book review should have. She succinctly shares the storyline without giving too much away, delves into what she liked about the book, and why you may want to read it as well.

P.K., is a historical fiction novelist and I recommend you check out her excellent book reviews for examples of well-written reviews.

How to Write a Good Book Review & Get Free Thriller Books

If you’re interested in learning to write captivating book reviews or simply improving your skills in this area, you’ll want to read this article on Book Riot, “How to Write a Book Review: 6 Steps to Take“.

If you’re a reader looking for free books that you plan to review on book-related sites or your own blog or Booktube channel, you’ll be interested in this program through Book Sirens. There are a couple of different ways you can participate.

Get Free Thriller Books to Review

  1. Register for a free account on Book Sirens and choose your preferred genre. You will see all the details on how many review spots are left, how much time you have to read and review the book, and can read a free sample to make sure it’s a good fit.
  2. Alternatively, you could request Advanced Reader Copies (ARCs) from different publishers. There are many listed on the site. Narrow down the types of books you want to read–everything from thriller books to Christian romance to YA–and make your requests more customized.

Help a Reader Out–Leave a Thriller Book Review Today

Whether you’re a regular reviewer over at Goodreads, or a well-meaning but sporadic thriller book recommendation maker on Amazon, you can make it a point to start leaving more reviews. My goal is to leave at least one review for each thriller book I read.

Find me and my reviews on Goodreads and I’ll be happy to connect with you there. I’d love to hear what you’re reading and reviewing.

My latest book, Under the Mountain, is now available in paperback format at Amazon and at other booksellers. It can also be requested at any independent book store in the U.S. If you’ve read it, I’d love it if you’d leave a review on Amazon or Goodreads, or wherever you leave reviews. Thank you very much!

Note: I may earn a small commission for my endorsement, recommendation, testimonial, and/or link to any products or services from this website. I would never recommend something that I didn’t enjoy.

I am an author and lover of Gothic books and movies. I enjoy reading, spending time in old cemeteries, visiting junk shops and drinking hot beverages...just not all at the same time.
